Vargas started working at Mt. SAC in 2002 as the student life facilitator for the Office of Student Life.
In his role Vargas runs the day-to-day operations of the Student Life Center and oversees the housing referral program, campus publicity, and the reservation of the center's resources.
Vargas is an advisor to the Mexican Chicano Association (MeChA) and Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society. Mt. SAC students recently presented Vargas with the Educator of Distinction award.
Before working for Mt. SAC fulltime Vargas was a student assistant in the center that he now runs. As a student he began work on his Associates' degree in liberal studies and is now attempting to complete a second Associates' degree in architecture technology.
Vargas aspires to complete his education at Mt. SAC, transfer to a four-year and start a career in architecture.
Vargas enjoys playing pool, golf, and tennis and makes a point to set time aside on weekends for a friendly game of poker with friends.
Vargas graduated from Baldwin Park High School in Baldwin Park and is a resident of Covina.
