Leadership Education And Development Program
The LEAD Program is a non-credit certificate program dedicated to developing students to bcome effective leaders. Participants receive a co-curricular leadership certificate upon compleation of twelve hours of workshops in personal leadership.
The program is open and free to all Mt. SAC students who have a current student activities sticker. Core workshops are offered twice a semester while beginning and advanced workshops are offered once per semester. Click Here to view the LEAD calendar. Mission Statement
In support of the College mission, the Leadership Education and Development (L.E.A.D.) Program provides education, development and training that enhances students’ personal and professional leadership abilities and prepares them with the knowledge and skills needed for success in an interconnected world.
We believe the ability to be a leader is within all students and can be enhanced by the following:
- Providing purposeful and holistic student learning and development experiences;
- Providing opportunities for students to gain leadership experience tailored to their individual needs and desired learning outcomes;
- Providing opportunities for students to develop a personal philosophy of leadership that involves the understanding of self, others, and a multicultural community;
- Providing opportunities that are inclusive of and accessible to all students;
- Recognizing and rewarding exemplary leadership behavior.
Definition of Leadership
Leadership requires knowledge of self, individual contribution, collaboration with the group, and passion that motivates one to act towards social change. Leaders must be honest, and hold a strong sense of responsibility and commitment towards helping others on campus, at work and in their communities.
